In Stitches opened in September of 2003. The building was constructed for an Allis-Chalmers Dealership on the west side with the sales of Studebaker cars on the east side of the 6,000 square foot structure. The previous business here was a restaurant with meeting rooms, family dining area, dance floor and bar. No structural changes were made to the building for the quilt shop. The bulk head that was over the bar area has been made into a wonderful space for sample displays. The dance floor area is home to sweatshirts, books, patterns and notions. The wall space also has become a home to a wide array of other samples and panels. The family dining side is now our classroom for various classes and club meetings..
August of 2005 brought in Carolyn’s Quilting Studio. Carolyn Messer purchased a long-arm quilting machine which occupies the one side of meeting room area. She enjoys doing edge to edge designs, meandering and custom work. Her hours are Monday through Friday from 10 am – 4 pm. The other side is our clearance area where fabrics are marked down at least 25%.
Now, nearly 17 years later, we have over 1200 bolts of quality quilting fabric from Moda, Benartex, Quilting Treasures, Wilmington Prints, Timeless Treasures and Hoffman, among others. Our niche is panels, so if you are looking for a certain one, we just might have it! We also have cotton tea towels and wool felt.
I want quilters that stop here to have fun and enjoy the fabrics and projects. We hope to see you soon and that you enjoy your visit!
